Everyone loves healthy-looking and skin, and the glass skin regimen promises exactly that. Glass skin really means that your skin looks like a crystal clear piece of glass. It actually means it is all about skin which looks translucent, luminous, flawless and completely clear. Poreless, healthy, even-toned, and bright skin is the ultimate goal.

For glass skin, the surface of the skin needs to be incredibly smooth. It has no bumps or rough texture. There should be a significant reservoir of water directly under the surface for the crystal-like and moist appearance that catches and reflects light. Also, the skin looks and feels plump and springy. How can we make it happen in real life? You will have to gently and continually slough off dull, dead skin cells while keeping your skin hydrated to the max. This skincare trend requires you to drench your skin in moisture. The hydration gives your face that liquid highlighter radiance, but without actually using a drop of highlighter.

Step 1 – Double Cleanse

Cleansing should always be the first step in any skincare routine. If you want to obtain the dewy glass skin, this step is non-negotiable. For a completely flawless complexion, you have to remove any trace of makeup, oil, sweat, dirt, and pollutants before starting with skincare. So, begin with an oil based formula that dissolves your makeup without stripping the skin of essential moisture. Then follow up with a foam or cream cleanser that will rid the skin of remaining dirt and impurities.

Step 2 – Do The 7 Skin Approach

A hydrating, non-alcoholic toner (or “skin”) is the secret to attaining glass skin – and you need lots of it. You want to apply several layers, best is 7, so that you achieve the lit-from-within radiance. Even if it sounds fussy and bothersome, it actually does not take so long and ends up feeling more like a treatment than a grind.

After cleansing, while skin is still damp, pour a few drops of toner onto your hands and lightly tap into your skin. Repeat another 6 times. You will notice that your skin looks and feels plumped up and firm. Want to pamper yourself a little bit more? Pop on a sheet mask. It is the easiest way to soothe tired skin, repair damage and deliver deep hydration. Don’t forget to pat any excess serum into the skin after removing the mask.

Step 3 – Apply An Essence

In step 3, the skincare routine gets serious and is elevated to the next level. Use this step to address skin concerns like redness, large pores, or to even out your skin tone and to reduce fine lines. Notably hyaluronic acid is an awesome ingredient for the glass skin look, as it helps rehydrate the skin and preserve the moisture balance of your skin throughout the day. Also look for essences that contain active ingredients like vitamin A, C and E, and Niacinamide.

Step 4 – Moisturize

After all the preceding steps, you will want to lock in all the moisture. Layer on a moisturizer on top of the essence. This will act as a moisture barrier and help give you a radiant glow. You must use a moisturizer which is meant for your skin type and is not too heavy so as not to cause breakouts. As with the previous steps, select a moisturizer based on your skin type and concerns.

Step 5 – Protect Your Skin with SPF

To guard against fine lines, skin damage, and dark spots as well as preserve all the goodness of the previous steps, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day, in all seasons and all weather.

Exfoliation

Given that the basis for a glassy complexion is smooth skin texture and clarity, regular exfoliation is also crucial. Exfoliate only once or twice a week. You can try to use products with alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) as an ingredient. AHAs “unglue”, that is, remove dead skin cells and refine pores without irritation to reveal brighter, more glowing skin. It is a more gentle way to exfoliate as compared to the more aggressive physical exfoliants in facial scrubs that are used after cleansing.

Follow this routine and you should see results anywhere between one and three weeks. Know there is no shortcut to achieving flawless, luminous skin. Asian skincare goes beyond cult products or new trends: It needs consistency and commitment to your skincare regimen.

Make sure you top up throughout the day with a face mist to keep the hydration locked into your skin.
